Last month, we looked at psychological safety and its impact on engagement. This month, we\u2019re looking at <strong>psychological availability<\/strong> and the role it plays in a healthy, productive work environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, what is <strong>\u2018psychological availability\u2019<\/strong> and what does it look like? In short, it means that employees feel like they have the physical, emotional and mental resources to do their job. Here are some of the main factors that impact psychological availability:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Support from leadership<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to manage workload and stress<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Having a trusting, comfortable team environment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Access to necessary equipment, comfortable workspaces, etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Feeling like there\u2019s a healthy work\/life balance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Making psychological availability a priority comes down to organizations creating a workplace where team members feel supported \u2013 both through a healthy physical and emotional environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We hear the term \u201cburnout\u201d all the time, but we don\u2019t hear about \u201cpsychological availability\u201d all that often.
